Tarih Bölümümüz, 2008 yılında Nevşehir Üniversitesi Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi bünyesinde kurulmuş ve aynı akademik yıl içinde öğretim faaliyetlerine başlamıştır. Bugün beş Profesör, dokuz Doçent, iki Dr. Öğretim Üyesi, üç Arş. Gör. Dr. ve beş Araştırma Görevlisinden oluşan güçlü akademik kadrosuyla eğitim ve araştırma faaliyetlerini sürdürmektedir. Lisans programının yanı sıra yüksek lisans ve doktora düzeyinde de eğitim veren bölümümüzde, halen yüksek lisans programı aktif olarak devam etmektedir. Ayrıca Atatürk İlkeleri ve İnkılap Tarihi birimi de bölümümüz tarafından koordine edilmektedir.
Eğitim dili Türkçe olan bölümümüz; Eskiçağ, Ortaçağ, Yeniçağ, Yakınçağ, Osmanlı Müesseseleri ve Medeniyeti Tarihi, Genel Türk Tarihi viye Cumhuriyeti Tarihi anabilim dallarından oluşmaktadır. Lisans, yüksek lisans ve doktora öğrencilerimiz tarih disiplininin farklı alanlarında kapsamlı bir eğitim alma imkânına sahiptir.
Bölümümüzde tarih öncesi çağlardan günümüze uzanan geniş bir yelpazede dersler sunulmaktadır. Müfredatımız; Tarih Metodolojisi, Medeniyet Tarihi, Genel Türk Tarihi, İslam Tarihi, Orta Asya Türk Tarihi, İslamiyet öncesi ve sonrası Türk devletleri, Büyük Selçuklu ve Anadolu Selçuklu Devletleri, Osmanlı Tarihi ve Osmanlı Devleti’nin sosyo-ekonomik yapısı ile kurumsal düzeni, Osmanlı-Avrupa-Asya ilişkileri, Rusya Tarihi ve Osmanlı-Rus münasebetleri, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Tarihi, Orta Doğu ve Uzak Doğu Tarihi, Avrupa ve Amerika Tarihi, Türk Kültür Tarihi, Tarih Felsefesi, Sömürgecilik Tarihi ve Çağdaş Dünya Tarihi gibi pek çok konuyu kapsamaktadır.

Our Department of History was established in 2008 within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Nevşehir University and began its educational activities in the same academic year. Today, it continues its educational and research activities with a strong academic staff consisting of five Professors, nine Associate Professors, two Assistant Professors, three Research Assistants with PhDs, and five Research Assistants. In addition to the undergraduate program, our department also provides education at the master’s and doctoral levels, and the master’s program is currently active. Furthermore, the unit of Atatürk’s Principles and History of Turkish Revolution is also coordinated by our department.
Our department, where the language of instruction is Turkish, consists of the following divisions: Ancient History, Medieval History, Early Modern History, Modern History, History of Ottoman Institutions and Civilization, General Turkish History, and History of the Republic of Türkiye. Our undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students have the opportunity to receive comprehensive education in different fields of the discipline of history.
A wide range of courses covering periods from prehistoric ages to the present day are offered in our department. Our curriculum includes many subjects such as Historical Methodology, History of Civilization, General Turkish History, Islamic History, Central Asian Turkish History, Turkish states before and after Islam, the Great Seljuk and Anatolian Seljuk States, Ottoman History and the socio-economic structure and institutional organization of the Ottoman State, Ottoman-Europe-Asia relations, Russian History and Ottoman-Russian relations, History of the Republic of Türkiye, Middle Eastern and Far Eastern History, European and American History, Turkish Cultural History, Philosophy of History, History of Colonialism, and Contemporary World History.
